Photographer Joe Woolhead was hired by Larry Silverstein in 2006 to document the rebuilding of the World Trade Center and has amassed a collection of more than four million photographs. His book, Once More to the Sky, a collaboration with author Scott Raab, includes a selection of them. “His photos of ground zero and the human army rebuilding those sixteen acres are a repository of American history,” writes Raab in the book’s epilogue, “and glorious illumination of the sole indisputable, absolute, and literal truth: inch by inch, day by day, downtown has been reborn and New York City’s sky reclaimed.”
